NH Congressman Hosting Job Fair for Veterans and Their Families as Part of Jobs Initiative

Posted by erik devaney

A day before Veterans Day, Rep. Frank Guinta is holding a job fair for military veterans and their families.

The job fair is being held Thursday at Manchester Community College from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  About 40 employers will talk to participants about job opportunities, and representatives from a dozen organizations will be on hand to explain services and resources available to veterans.

“New Hampshire has the nation’s 6th largest per capita veteran population,” Guinta recently stated.  “Armed Services members sometimes have a difficult time making the transition from the military back to civilian life. Unemployment is greater among their ranks than it is for the general population. Our military veterans were there when our country needed them. This job fair will show them their fellow Granite Staters are there for them now.”

The event is part of Guinta’s “Getting Granite Staters Back to Work” initiative, which he launched in April.

Other parts of the initiative have included surveying job creators to gather input on how Washington could help with job growth; holding a roundtable discussion with job creators; and hosting job fairs in Derry and Rochester.
