Boston’s Tech Community gets Ready to Boogie: Dave Balter Tech Prom is Thursday Night, Check Out all the Swag Attendees will Receive!

Posted by erik devaney

It will be like your high school prom all over again; only this time there’ll be an open bar, considerably more sunglasses and all of the attendees will have flasks in their pockets.

The Dave Balter Tech Prom, which will be hosted at the Fairmont Copley Plaza on Thursday night, promises to be an evening of dancing, drinking, hors d’oeuvres and – thanks to the event’s many sponsors – lots of free stuff.

Upon entering the Fairmont, prom-goers will receive corsages and boutonnieres courtesy of Wayfair. Once guests are outfitted with their floral flair, photo time will be next.

Keeping with the prom’s 1980s theme, Softlayer is providing an 80s-style backdrop, complete with balloon arch. Attendees will be able to access their prom photos via Flickr. For prom-goers who are too cool for this traditional prom photo session, Bain Capital Ventures will be providing a photo booth (available for use throughout the night).

The Dave Balter Tech Prom’s “Sunglasses at Night” tagline is more than just a reference to Corey Hart’s 1983 hit single; it’s also a reference to the fact that all prom-goers will be receiving custom Fay-Ban shades from GSN.

Unlike the chaperones at your high school prom — who took away those flasks that your troublemaking classmates were hiding — the Tech Prom crew will be handing everyone at the event a custom flask, courtesy of Bullhorn. To help prom-goers with more immediate thirst-quenching opportunities, BzzAgent will be providing shot glasses to all attendees.

The most extravagant swag of the night will go to the Dave Balter Tech Prom king and queen, as Gemvara will be awarding the prom’s royalty with custom rings. Prom-goers can vote from prom king and queen by Tweeting nominations to @DBTechProm, posting nominations to the Dave Balter Tech Prom Facebook page or by submitting nominations at the event with an iPhone/Android app.

Unfortunately for ticket-less individuals who are interested in attending the Dave Balter Tech Prom, the event is officially sold out.
